“Wow,” Kirk said. He rolled his shoulder around to loosen it up. “This is the most football I’ve ever played.”

“It’s a great start,” Mason said. “We still need to work on snapping the ball and reading the backfield.”

“Tomorrow,” Kirk said, looking out at the horizon. The sunset was casting an orange glow all across Clearwater Bluff. “I need to eat.”

“Deal,” Mason said. He bumped fists with Kirk and headed to his bike. “We’ll make a quarterback out of you yet.”

“Thanks, Coach,” called Kirk, laughing as Mason took off pedaling home.
